Valley Orchestra Guild

• Instruments are available to students in the West Des Moines school orchestra program.  This program is especially helpful for elementary and junior high students who need to change instrument size frequently.
  
  
• There are over a hundred violins and violas in various sizes from mainly ½ to full size instruments (a few other instruments are also available).
  
  
• Instruments can be rented at fall rental night in September or as long as we still have instruments to rent.
  
  
• Instruments may be rented through return night in May or until the student leaves the district, leaves the program or purchases an instrument.  If desired, instrument can be returned and immediately re-rented so the student can practice during the summer.
  
  
• Current rates are TBA for the rental with a refundable deposit of TBA.
  
  
• Each instrument includes a bow and case.  The student is responsible for broken strings, shoulder rests, mutes, rosin, music stand for home practice and some printed music.
  
  
• Renters are required to return the instrument in good condition and should carry insurance.  Please note that instrument should never be left in the heat or cold and should be kept away from water, pets and small children.  When the instrument is not being played it should be placed in the case in a safe place.
  
  
• Please make sure that all instruments have ID for your student on a luggage tag on the case.
  
  
• VOG should be told of any change in contact information for any rental (change of address/phone/e-mail or drop from program). 
  

Do you own a string instrument that never gets played, strings that were never used for an instrument that has been returned or have music you purchased that your child has long outgrown?

VOG is willing to accept any of the following: instruments, bows, cases, strings, mutes, rosin, stands, shoulder rests, metronomes, music theory/history materials, music flashcards, Suzuki or other educational graded programs or “fun” sheet music or books, CDs and tapes made to accompany educational string music programs, Suzuki tapes and CDs, or tapes, CDs or DVDs of professional string player(s).

Receipts will be issued for all instruments and larger items.  All donated items will be made available to WDMCS orchestra teachers to loan or donate to students or to be included in the rental program.
